Leap Trends privacy statement
This statement describes which personal data Leap Company processes when you visit Leap Trends, for what purpose, on what legal basis and for how long. Apart from the server's technical log, we only process data when you sign up for the monthly newsletter, give feedback or consent to visits being measured.
This is a translation of the Dutch privacy statement. If the two versions differ, the Dutch version prevails.
Data controller
Leap Trends is published by Leap Company, Grotestraat 15, 7031 AG Wehl, the Netherlands, Chamber of Commerce (KvK) number 87881845. Leap Company is the controller within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Questions about this statement or about your data can be sent to info@leapcompany.nl.
Measuring visits with Google Analytics
Leap Trends may use Google Analytics to measure which pages are visited. This only happens after you have given your consent in the notice at the bottom of the screen. If you decline, or have not yet made a choice, Google Analytics is not loaded and no cookies are placed.
If you give your consent, Google places cookies that recognise your browser on a later visit. Google processes this data as a processor on behalf of Leap Company. The data is not used for advertising and is not linked to Google accounts. The legal basis is your consent. Google may process data in the United States; that transfer is covered by the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. The data is kept for fourteen months.
Your choice is stored in your browser for one year. You can change it at any time via ‘Cookies’ at the bottom of every page.
The server's technical log
The site is hosted on Google Cloud in a data centre in the Netherlands. On every visit the server keeps a technical log that includes your IP address, the time and the page requested. This is needed to keep the site secure and working properly; the legal basis is our legitimate interest. The log is deleted after thirty days.
The fonts are loaded from our own server. The share buttons for LinkedIn, WhatsApp, X, Facebook and email are ordinary links: these services only receive data when you click one of those links yourself.
Monthly newsletter
When you sign up for the monthly newsletter, we process your email address in order to send it to you. The legal basis is your consent. After signing up, you first receive an email with a confirmation button; your address is only added to the mailing list once you have confirmed. That way nobody can sign someone else up, and we can show that the consent came from you. Without confirmation you will not receive the newsletter.
The email address is kept on a separate list at Brevo, which sends the newsletter on our behalf and acts as a processor in doing so. The address is not used for any other purpose and is kept for as long as you are subscribed. The Leap Trends server itself does not store any email addresses.
You can unsubscribe via the link at the bottom of every newsletter. If you want your address deleted completely, send an email to info@leapcompany.nl.
Feedback
The feedback button lets you send your role, a rating and, if you wish, a comment. The address of the page you were on is sent along with it. By default your feedback is anonymous: you are not asked for your name or email address. The response is sent to Leap Company as an email via Brevo and is not stored anywhere else. If you include personal data in your comment yourself, we use it only to improve the site; the legal basis is our legitimate interest.
If you would like a reply, you fill in your name, your email address and, if you wish, your organisation. We use that data only to respond to your feedback; the legal basis is your consent. You receive a confirmation by email. We do not keep this data for longer than is needed to deal with your feedback.
If you also give separate consent to be contacted about organisational questions, we add your name, email address and organisation to our contact database at Brevo. We use that data only to get in touch with you. We keep it until you withdraw your consent, which you can do at any time by emailing info@leapcompany.nl.
Names of authors and researchers
The briefings and the list of publications sometimes name authors and researchers as the source of their public publication. This is necessary for correct attribution; the legal basis is our legitimate interest. If you would rather not be named, or a reference is incorrect, email the link to the page concerned to info@leapcompany.nl.
Your rights
You have the right to access the data we process about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to its processing. Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw that consent at any time. Requests can be sent to info@leapcompany.nl; you will receive a reply within one month. Leap Company does not sell personal data.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority, Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens. We would appreciate it if you contacted us first.
